Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Missions to Kenya 2010
"To Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus Christ"
We at Mt. Carmel have discovered life to be a great adventure and this summer
we are seizing the opportunity to be part of an adventure for Christ. Our church
is going on our first mission trip to Kenya!! We
are traveling to the village of Meru (roughly five hours from the capital city
of Nairobi) to do work on the school there. They have a general purpose building
where they have classes, eat meals and hold other events, yet this building is
not finished. It has a roof, a dirt floor and columns, but no walls, windows,
or doors. Our team is going to help in the process of getting the building completed,
or at least farther along the way. We are joining up with Pastor Peter Kaimathiri,
associate pastor at East Cobb UMC in Marietta, GA, who serves as the pastor of
the Kenyan congregation there. Pastor Peter has been sharing with our congregation
for two years now about the work and mission in Kenya, and we are excited to
finally GO, see, and help with not only our donations, but also our hands and
feet.
While God has opened up a door for us at Mt. Carmel to develop a greater heart of compassion for His people around the world, our team needs assistance in sharing this kindness in several ways. Mt. Carmel is a small, loving congregation. Our numbers are few, but we worship our Lord with gladness and we want to share his message as commanded. However, we can not do this alone.
- First, we ask for your prayers us as we gather everything together and prepare to depart in July of 2010! There are so many needs: details prior to departures, obtaining passports / visas / vaccinations / supplies, prayers for safety travels and health while to, from, and in Kenya, and prayers for a mighty movement of the Holy Spirit. Also, we need prayers that our financial needs will be met for
ALL team
members.
- Second way in which you can help our team
is through a financial donation. Whether you can give $1 or a larger
sum, every bit helps! At this time we need to raise $2650 each to attend
this trip, and that is quite a challenge for such a small congregation!
Our trip is being funded entirely through fundraisers, donations and by
those going on the trip.
We pray that God will guide you in your giving, be it through prayer,
finances or both, all of your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your consideration and for your commitment to helping make life better for those who are suffering in other parts of the world.
